“Not like Egyptian Tyrants consecrate

Unmixed with others shall my dust remain

But mold’ring, blending, melting into Earth.

Mine shall give form and colour to the Rose

And while its vivid colours cheer Mankind,

Its perfumed odours shall ascend to Heaven.”

Humphry Repton

As the home of Humphry Repton’s first commission and last resting place, we are delighted to be hosting the biggest collection of events in the country for the Repton 200 Season here in Norfolk. A number of organisations, both local and national, have worked together on this exciting programme of events to celebrate the life and work of one of the country’s greatest landscape gardeners.

Most events are taking place between March and June but there are some which carry on into the autumn, including the national Heritage Open Days festival. Everything in the programme connects to Repton’s skills as a gardener, artist, dramatist and an important figure in Georgian history. Many artefacts, not normally available to view, will be on display at various events and rediscovered references will give an insight for Repton admirers of his work that might not have been seen before.

There is something for everyone to enjoy at the Repton 200 Season and lots to learn about this important historical figure. While many events are walk-in, some will require booking in advance – details can be found with each event listing.

We hope you enjoy exploring Norfolk and discovering Repton’s legacy.
